Seven women rescued as Ahmedabad LCB busts prostitution racket at Naroda spas

The Local Crime Branch (LCB), Zone-4 of the Ahmedabad Police, on Thursday busted an alleged illegal prostitution racket operating under the guise of luxury spas in the Naroda area and rescued seven women during raids, officials said.
Acting on specific intelligence, the LCB raided Blue Heaven Luxury Spa and Little Cloud Luxury Spa, located near Naroda Haridarshan Chowkdi on Arshivad Avenue, where illegal prostitution activities were allegedly being carried out. Police said the women had been brought from outside Gujarat and forced into the flesh trade.
LCB officials said Police Sub-Inspector S M Patel of Zone-4 received inputs that the manager of the spa, along with his wife, was allegedly running the racket by sourcing women from other states. Based on the information, a trap was laid by sending decoy customers to confirm the illegal activities. Once the inputs were verified, a raid was carried out, resulting in the rescue of seven women.
The police have arrested spa manager Dharmendra Singh Harvendra Singh and his wife Kamaljit. The couple is currently residing in Naroda. Their native place is Pandori Gola village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, police said.
Legal action has been initiated against the accused under relevant provisions of law, while further investigation is under way to identify other persons linked to the racket and to ascertain whether similar activities were being run at other locations.
Police said efforts are being made to rehabilitate the rescued women and to trace the network involved in trafficking and exploitation under the cover of spa businesses in the city.
