The Banaskantha police has arrested a man who was on the run after his second killing following an attack on three persons. On the night of August 18, an unidentified person had fatally attacked Deepak Kumar, alias Sonu Kumar of Uttar Pradesh, near a bus stop close to Gadh in Palanpur taluka. Preliminary investigation revealed that the attacker inflicted injuries to the victim's head, resulting in his death. Recognising the severity of the crime, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), and teams from the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Deesa, and Gadh police stations were formed to investigate the case.

CCTV footage showed a beggar-like figure with a bag near the crime scene, which led the police to a suspect. During questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime. The attacker, Ishwar Shankarji Majirana, a resident of Tekra, Deesa, had purchased food from a hotel on the night of the incident and decided to stay overnight at the Kushkal bus station.

While resting, he saw three men talking animatedly by the roadside. Without any provocation, he violently attacked the three individuals with a shining, sharp object lying by the roadside. Two of the men were injured and fell to the ground, while the third escaped. One of the injured labourers was Kumar, who later succumbed to his wounds.

After the attack, the suspect travelled towards Palanpur, where he was eventually apprehended by the police.

The murderer is reportedly a history sheeter who had previously killed a labourer and was jailed for it. It's not clear whether he had escaped from jail.
