IAS officer's wife attempts suicide

A senior Gujarat government official’s wife allegedly attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. She was admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital and her condition is said to be stable.

As per sources, the wife of 2005 batch IAS officer Ranjeeth Kumar who lives in Sector-19 in the state capital, was rushed in an unconscious state by the 108 Emergency Service to Gandhinagar Civil. She was admitted to the ICU of the hospital. “The condition of the patient is stable,” said Gandhinagar Civil Superintendent Dr Niyati Lakhani.

After the incident, Ranjeeth who is Secretary, Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission, Ahmedabad, stated that his wife has not been living with him since 2023, sources said. She was not here in Gujarat for more than 8 months, he added.

They have applied for divorce and the children are with Ranjeeth Kumar, as per the sources.
