Security heightened at Godhra station after intelligence alert over possible RDX threat

A day before Republic Day, security agencies carried out an intensive search operation at Godhra railway station in Gujarat after intelligence inputs warned of a possible RDX blast at Sirhind railway station in Punjab, officials said.
Following the alert, which was circulated across the national railway network, police and security agencies increased vigilance at key stations, including Godhra, to ensure passenger safety.
The Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other security agencies were placed on high alert and immediately launched a coordinated operation at Godhra station. The search, conducted between 12 noon and 1 pm, was carried out under the direct supervision of senior officials.
Teams from the Godhra Special Bomb Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the Dog Squad were deployed during the operation. A thorough inspection was conducted of platforms, the yard, track areas, passenger quarters and luggage.
Officials said the hour-long exercise did not yield any suspicious objects, hazardous materials or unidentified persons.
After the comprehensive checks, the railway administration and security agencies confirmed that the situation was normal and posed no immediate threat.
