Security guard killed after being hit by dumper door at RMC plant in Changodar

A 34-year-old security guard at an RMC plant in Changodar, Sanand, died in a freak accident on Tuesday evening after being struck on the head by the door of a reversing dumper, police said.
The FIR at Changodar police station by the victim’s younger brother states the incident occurred around 8.30 pm at the Innovative Infrastructure RMC plant near Harsha Company. The deceased, identified as Babulal, a long-time employee at the plant, had reportedly climbed into the cabin of a dumper which was parked on the roadside in the premises.
Police said that as soon as the dumper was started, it unexpectedly moved in reverse while still in gear. Its open door swung back and hit Babulal on the head, slamming him against the iron ladder of a mixer machine nearby. He sustained severe head and facial injuries.
His younger brother Vimlesh, who works at the same plant and witnessed the incident, said that workers immediately rushed Babulal to Care and Cure Hospital. Doctors there referred him to Sola Civil Hospital for advanced treatment. A 108 emergency ambulance was called, but the on-board doctor declared him dead en route after examination.
In his complaint, Vimlesh alleged negligence on part of the RMC plant management, claiming that safety protocols were not followed and the dumper had been left in reverse gear with its door open. He has sought a legal investigation into the matter.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Changodar police confirmed that an accidental death case has been registered. “The body has been sent for post-mortem. Statements of the complainant, company staff and eyewitnesses will be recorded. We are also looking into whether lapses in plant safety measures contributed to the mishap,” the officer said.
The police said further inquiry is underway to determine responsibility and whether charges under negligence provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita would be invoked.
