Security guard injured after accidental firing on Ahmedabad’s C G Road, colleague held

Tension gripped the busy CG Road area in Ahmedabad on Thursday night after a security guard was injured in an accidental firing incident. According to police, a firearm went off mistakenly while being handled by another guard, resulting in a bullet injury to the victim’s leg.
The incident took place in the Navrangpura area, where a team of private security guards was deployed on duty. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the guards, while checking or handling his weapon, accidentally discharged a bullet, which struck his colleague in the leg.
The injured guard was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and is reported to be out of danger, officials said.
Following the incident, Navrangpura police detained the guard responsible for the firing and have initiated an investigation to determine whether proper safety protocols were being followed while handling the firearm.
A senior police officer said, “It appears to be a case of accidental firing, but we are verifying whether the weapon was legally licensed and if due caution was observed.”
The police have registered a case and are recording statements of other guards present at the site at the time of the incident.
