The Bodakdev police have registered a case against a security guard for allegedly stealing two laptops worth ₹50,000 from the head office of AU Small Finance Bank on Sindhu Bhavan Road last month.

As per the complaint lodged on March 2, by Jatinbhai Nathalal Rathod (48), a resident of Maninagar and Security Branch Manager with Eagle Security and Personal Services, the accused, Dilip Bhagwandas Gupta a resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, had been deployed at the bank’s head office at B/503, Time Square Grand, Sindhu Bhavan Road.

Rathod stated that Gupta had been working as a security guard at the premises for about a month, with duty hours from 9 am to 3 pm.

As per the FIR, two laptops – one Lenovo and another HP laptop – along with their chargers, were kept at the office and were to be handed over to a courier service. The devices were collectively valued at approximately ₹50,000.

On February 26, around 9 am, Gupta allegedly opened the office and left the premises after taking the two laptops that had been kept ready for dispatch. Later that evening, at about 7 pm, Rathod was informed by bank officials over the phone that the laptops were missing and that Gupta was untraceable.

Attempts to contact the accused reportedly failed. Following discussions with the management of both the security agency and the bank, Rathod approached the police to file a formal complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Bodakdev police have registered an offence of theft and initiated an investigation. Police officials said statements of bank staff would be recorded and efforts are under way to trace the accused.
