Security concerns have resurfaced at Gujarat University after a group of five to six outsiders allegedly entered the campus in a black car on Wednesday afternoon and assaulted an animation student, leaving him seriously injured.

The attackers, reportedly carrying sticks, targeted a fourth- or fifth-semester student of the integrated animation course outside the department.

A formal complaint regarding the incident is yet to be filed.

The incident comes just days after a former employee vandalised computers and furniture inside the Botany department, raising fresh questions about campus safety. Despite the university deploying three security agencies and promising stricter checks after the earlier incident, the intruders managed to enter the premises unchecked.

University officials were reportedly unaware of the assault when it occurred, triggering further criticism over security lapses.
