Scooterist killed in hit-and-run near Palladium mall, accused auto driver flees spot
A 31-year-old man died in a tragic road accident on Saturday afternoon near Palladium mall in Ahmedabad, after being struck by an unidentified auto-rickshaw driver while descending the Sola Bridge. 'A' Divison traffic police station has registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the absconding driver.
The incident occurred around 3.30 pm when the victim, identified as Chandu Vaghabhai Nathi, a resident of Ghatlodia and a professional driver by occupation, was driving his two-wheeler down the bridge road in the direction of Palladium mall. An unidentified rickshaw allegedly rammed into his vehicle from behind, causing him to lose control and collide with a four-wheeler.
“An FIR is being filed and efforts are underway to gather CCTV footage from the area and identify the auto-rickshaw involved in the incident,” said Police Inspector R V Vinchhi of 'A' Division traffic police station.
The deceased's body has been sent for post-mortem and further inquiries are ongoing. Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information related to the accident.
