Scooter theft racket busted, 3 held with 17 stolen TVS Jupiters worth ₹15 lakh

In a major breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad Rural Police has busted an organised vehicle theft racket and arrested three persons with 17 stolen TVS Jupiter scooters valued at ₹15.3 lakh, along with three mobile phones worth ₹85,000.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from the rural SOG intercepted a suspect riding a white TVS Jupiter scooter near the Sanand-Bavla bypass road. The accused, identified as Divyaraj Singh Vaghela, was apprehended along with the scooter, which was later confirmed to be stolen.

Upon further interrogation, Divyaraj revealed the names of his two accomplices — Dharmadeep Singh Parmar and Shivraj Singh Vaghela — both employed at a TVS two-wheeler showroom near Jogni Mataji Temple in Sanand town. The two were responsible for managing vehicle inventory and maintenance at the showroom.

According to police officials, the duo exploited the absence of CCTV surveillance and security at the showroom’s godown during lunch hours to steal unregistered TVS Jupiter scooters. They discreetly handed over the stolen vehicles to Divyaraj, who would then distribute them to various individuals.

Following the confession, the police recovered a total of 17 TVS Jupiter scooters of various colours and models, each valued at approximately ₹90,000, along with three mobile phones, bringing the total recovery to ₹16.15 lakh.

The accused have been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), and an FIR has been registered under Sanand Town police station on July 3. All three are currently in police custody and further investigation is underway to identify potential buyers of the stolen vehicles.

Police sources stated that the motive behind the thefts was personal financial gain and indulgence in a luxurious lifestyle. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of more vehicles being stolen and are continuing their investigation.
