Scooter rider killed after dumper truck hits two-wheeler near SG Highway

A 32-year-old man died after a dumper truck allegedly rammed into his scooter near SG Highway in Ahmedabad on Tuesday morning, police said.

According to the SG Highway Traffic Police Station, the victim was identified as Dharmik Sanjaybhai Chotaliya, a resident of Vinayak Homes near Ujala Circle in Sarkhej.

Police said the incident occurred before 7.55 am on May 19 when Chotaliya was riding his Activa scooter from the YMCA junction on SG Highway towards Sanand Circle to get the vehicle serviced.

Investigators said that near the Blue Balloon Party Plot, close to the side gate of Enrise Glance, a dumper truck bearing allegedly struck the scooter while being driven recklessly and at high speed.

The impact threw the rider off the two-wheeler, causing severe injuries to his hands, legs and other parts of the body. Police said the victim died on the spot.

According to officials, the dumper driver fled from the scene immediately after the accident.

SG highway- 2 Traffic Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver of the dumper truck and launched an investigation. Officials said CCTV footage from the area and human intelligence inputs are being analysed to trace the accused driver.
