Saurashtra receives downpour, Ahmedabad likely to witness rainfall today

With the official arrival of monsoon in Gujarat, Saurashtra’s Khambhalia taluka in Devbhumi Dwarka district witnessed a major outpour on June 16.

The incessant rain that started at 1 pm on June 16 continued to pour until around 5 pm. The heaviest rainfall was between 2 pm and 4 pm, when 5 inches of rain fell at once, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas. Khambhalia witnessed a total of 10 inches of rainfall by 5 pm.

Due to the rain, the season’s total rainfall in Khambhalia has reached 32.5%. The first rain of the season in Porbandar fell on the morning of June 16 at 4 am, with a rain of 3 inches. Ranavav near Porbandar also received 2 inches of rain.

While the Bhavnath region received light rain in the morning of June 16, Manavadar, Mangrol, Bhat and Keshod also received rain.

Jamnagar’s Jamjodhpur, Rajkot's Morbi, Gondal, Paddhari, and Vinchhiya also witnessed a change in weather and light rain on June 16.

Ahmedabad is likely to receive rain and thunderstorms this evening or by night with a maximum temperature of 41°C across the day.

June 17: Heavy rain in Porbandar and Dwarka.  Moderate rain in Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, and most districts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra.

June 18: Moderate rain in Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, and most districts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra.

June 19 to 21: Moderate rain in Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, the Dangs, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Daman.
