Rural Gujarat to get 80 new family courts
Remote villages in Gujarat will now have access to family court services in their nearby areas, eliminating the need for villagers to travel long distances to the family court in their district.
The Gujarat High Court and state government have decided to open 80 new family courts in the state with effect from July 1, 2024.
Anilkumar Kella, the chairperson of the Bar Council of Gujarat’s finance committee said, “The decision to set up so many family courts at once is historic for the government and the high court.”
He said, “Earlier, family court services were only available at the district level, but now people in rural and interior areas will also get family court services near their villages.”
The law department of the state government has also issued a notification for the establishment of 80 new family courts.
According to the notification, a new family court has been set up in Viramgam in Ahmedabad district, which will cover Viramgam, Detroj-Rampura, and Mandal talukas.
