Ruckus in Sabarkantha BJP: 15 councillors resign from Prantij municipality
A major political crisis has emerged in Prantij municipality after 15 BJP councillors submitted their resignations to the district BJP president. The councillors have accused Municipality President Anita Pandya and her husband Jignesh Pandya of running the administration in an arbitrary manner and ignoring the opinions of elected members.
The resignation letter, signed by all 15 councillors, was sent to the district BJP leadership. After the letter went viral on social media, it created a stir within BJP.
According to local sources, dissatisfaction among BJP members had been growing since Anita Pandya became the president of the municipality. Several councillors allegedly felt that her husband, Jignesh Pandya, was interfering in municipal affairs and influencing important decisions without consulting other elected representatives.
After months of internal disagreements, the unhappy councillors decided to take collective action and submitted their resignations.
The sudden revolt has shocked BJP leaders at both the district and state levels. Party leaders are now trying to control the situation and prevent further damage.
Discussions are reportedly underway to resolve the dispute and convince the councillors to withdraw their resignations.
Prantij Municipality has a total of 24 seats, of which BJP holds 19. Out of these 19 BJP councillors, 15 have now resigned, showing a serious internal division within the ruling party. The development has raised questions about the stability of BJP’s leadership in the municipality.
The party is expected to take a final decision after discussions with both sides. Whether the resignations will be accepted or the dispute will be resolved through negotiations remains to be seen.
