₹18 lakh robbed in broad daylight near Vande Mataram Party Plot in Ahmedabad

In a daring daylight robbery, unidentified men looted ₹18 lakh from a steel and iron broker near the Vande Mataram Party Plot area under the jurisdiction of Shaherkotda police station in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police sources, the incident occurred near a water distribution centre adjacent to the party plot. The complainant, a broker dealing in steel and iron, was reportedly returning from CG Road after collecting money related to his business transactions. He was carrying the cash in the boot of his car.
As he reached the area, a biker intercepted his vehicle and initiated an argument. During the confrontation, the biker allegedly snatched the car keys and threw them ahead on the road. When the complainant stepped out to retrieve the keys, two more accomplices arrived on another motorcycle, broke open the boot, and fled with the cash kept inside.
The complainant later rushed to Shaherkotda police station and lodged a complaint. A senior officer said that the robbers appeared to have been tracking the victim’s movements, suggesting that the act was pre-planned.
Following the incident, police teams from Zone-3, including the DCP, ACP, and the Shaherkotda PI, reached the spot and reviewed the CCTV footage from the vicinity. A citywide alert has been issued, and surveillance has been intensified in adjoining areas to trace the suspects.
“The FIR has been registered, and multiple teams are working on identifying the accused based on technical and human intelligence inputs,” said an official.
Police sources added that the modus operandi suggests involvement of an organised gang that might have prior information about the cash transaction.
