rs 13 lakh of suspected adulterated ghee seized from Surendranagar’s Shiv Industries

The Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) Gujarat carried out an inspection at a ghee manufacturing unit in Surendranagar.

Surendranagar’s Thangadh-based Shiv Industries was found to manufacture adulterated ghee. During the inspection, Rajeshbhai Bharatbhai Chavda, the responsible person of the firm, was present.

A total of four samples of ghee and other food products were collected in the presence of Chavda. After the sample was taken, the remaining approximately 2,700 kg of ghee—estimated to be worth over ₹13 lakh—was seized on-site by the authority’s team in the interest of public health as per legal procedures. All four collected samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing.

Furthermore, FDCA also inspected another establishment of the same trader, Maheshwari Products and Chemicals, located in Gugaliyana village in Thangadh. At the site, refined palmolein oil was found, and a sample was collected in the presence of Chavda, which has also been sent to the laboratory for testing.

Since there is strong suspicion of adulteration in these food items, appropriate legal action will be taken as per regulations once the lab test reports are received.

According to Commissioner Dr H G Koshia, the FDCA of Gujarat is taking strict legal action against individuals involved in the production of adulterated or duplicate food products.
