A total of 100 cities were selected across India, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Dahod, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Gandhinagar from Gujarat.
In these selected cities, the goal was to develop top-notch healthcare systems, governance, transportation, infrastructure, and employment opportunities.
Reducing traffic and pollution, curbing accidents, and creating dedicated paths for cyclists were also key objectives of the Smart City project.
Under the Smart City initiative, Surat has the highest number of projects 82, followed by Rajkot with 37, and Ahmedabad with 70. Only one project is left in Ahmedabad currently which is valued at approximately ₹2,626 crore.
