Rottweiler dog that mauled 4-month-old girl in Ahmedabad dies of tick fever

The Rottweiler dog that attacked and mauled a four-month-old baby in the Hathijan area of Ahmedabad died after suffering from tick fever on Wednesday.

Rocky, the pet dog, was shifted to Paws Universe veterinary hospital in Bodakdev for treatment. Medical examination revealed the dog was suffering from a fatal disease called Babesiosis (a parasitic disease transmitted by ticks). The Amdavad Municipal Corporation will bore the cost of the dog’s treatment, which amounts to ₹25,000.

However, on Tuesday at midnight, the pet dog passed away in the veterinary hospital.

The dog was then buried in a pit at the carcass dump site in Gyaspur as part of its final rites.

Notably, when the CNCD department department contacted the owner of Rottweiler, Dilip Patel, about the dog’s passing away, asked them to carry out the post mortem without him.

The incident occurred in Radhe Residency, where Dilip Patel resided with his pet Rottweiler dog named Rocky.

Rocky killed a four-month-old baby on May 12 at Radhe Residency near Hathijan Circle. A resident of the society brought her pet Rottweiler downstairs while talking on the phone. In the process, the dog slipped from her grip and viciously attacked the infant and who was with her aunt.

The baby reportedly fell from her aunt’s hands during the attack, after which the dog fatally mauled her. The aunt also suffered injuries while trying to protect the child and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

After the incident, the dog was seized by CNCD department and was kept at AMC’s dog shelter.
