Rolex watch worth ₹17 lakh seized from Dubai flier at Ahmedabad airport

A Rolex wristwatch worth over ₹17 lakh was seized by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, on Wednesday.
According to officials, the seizure was made on August 20 after a male Indian passenger, who had arrived from Dubai by flight 6E1478, was intercepted at the green channel based on profiling and suspicion. During the X-ray scan of his baggage, officers noticed a suspicious image, prompting a detailed examination of his checked-in luggage.
The search led to the recovery of one luxury Rolex wristwatch, valued at ₹17.13 lakh. The item was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
Customs authorities stated that the passenger had failed to declare the high-value item upon arrival. “The goods have been seized and further investigation is underway,” a senior official confirmed.
Luxury watches and high-end branded items often figure among undeclared goods carried by passengers arriving from destinations such as Dubai, officials added.
