Road closure on Kalupur Road to be eased for Rathyatra, procession route remains same
With just days remaining for the 148th edition of Rathyatra procession, a dispute had recently emerged regarding a change in the route. The disagreement involved the temple trust, AMC, Metro Rail authorities, and the police. However, the issue has now been resolved.
The Kalupur road diversion will be temporarily opened for one day, allowing the Rath Yatra to proceed along its traditional route without any changes.
To ensure the smooth passage of the Rath Yatra on its fixed route, coordination between Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the police, and other involved agencies will be essential.
“As construction of new flyover near Kalupur Railway Station is in progress, after site visit on May 18, proposed route of Rathyatra would be after Panch Kuva Darwaja, Rath would go towards Kalupur Railway station on Reid Road,” said the statement from Ahmedabad Police.
“It will be moved to Opposite site road of Railway Station (Road from Kalupur to Sarangpur) and will again take towards Moti Mahal Restaurant from Railway work pier no 24,” it added.
This would require following work cooperation from different agencies, as per the statement.
Amdavad Municipal Corporation:
- Demolish the median kerb stone and rails for Rathyatra Day.
- Relocate two trees.
- Carry out road patch work with bituminous material for smooth movement of the Rath.
Police:
- Declare the route.
- Permit and coordinate to open the road diversion as per the map for Rathyatra Day only.
- Depute staff as per the decided route.
DRAIPL (Infra firm):
- Open traffic barriers for the day.
- Clear the route inside the working site and remove all material.
- Ensure smoothness of the road for Rath movement in the working area.
- Depute necessary staff on the day.
