A 42-year-old rickshaw driver sustained a head injury after being allegedly attacked with a brick during a neighbourhood altercation in Sardarnagar on Friday night. The airport police have registered a case against two brothers following a complaint by the injured man.

The incident took place at around 9.30 pm on June 12 in Ambawadi locality of Sardarnagar, where the complainant, Vijay Harjani, resides with his family.

Police said the dispute began when a ball allegedly struck a pakodi cart operated by Vijay’s younger brother, Haresh Harjani, outside their residence. When Haresh questioned the act, an argument reportedly broke out with a local resident identified as Aniket alias “Tantio” Bhil.

The complaint alleges that the argument quickly escalated, with Aniket allegedly hurling abuses and engaging in a physical confrontation. Vijay intervened in an attempt to defuse the situation and protect his brother.

Aniket then allegedly picked up a brick and struck Vijay on the head, causing a bleeding injury. Moments later, another accused, identified as Arun alias Deepak Bhil, allegedly joined the altercation and assaulted Vijay and his brother.

Family members and local residents rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion. Vijay’s niece and other bystanders reportedly intervened and prevented the situation from escalating further.

The injured man was subsequently shifted to the Asarwa Civil Hospital in an ambulance after emergency services were contacted. Following medical treatment, he approached the Airport Police Station and lodged a formal complaint.

Based on the complaint, police have registered an offence against Aniket, alias Tantio Bhil, and Arun, alias Deepak Bhil, both residents of the Sardarnagar area. Investigators have recorded statements of witnesses, including family members present during the incident.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the full sequence of events and determine the roles of the accused in the assault.

No arrests had been reported at the time of filing this report.
