Relief for Gujarat from heavy rains Ahmedabad other districts to receive light showers

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain on Tuesday in parts of north and south Gujarat along with Saurashtra.

North Gujarat: Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar

South Gujarat: Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli

Saurashtra: Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Diu and Kutch.

Ahmedabad records 62% of seasonal rainfall

In the current monsoon season, Ahmedabad has recorded an average rainfall of 17 inches, which is 62% of the seasonal average. In comparison, by August 3 last year, the city had received only 11 inches of rain, amounting to 43.64% of the season’s total.

So far this season, Ahmedabad city has recorded an average of 21.40 inches of rain, which is 67.50% of the seasonal average. Compared to this, only 15% of the season’s rainfall had been recorded by August 3 last year.

Within Ahmedabad district, Daskroi has received the highest rainfall — 23 inches, which is 93% of the seasonal average — while Sanand has received the lowest, at 12.12 inches or 40%.

Apart from this, most talukas in Ahmedabad have received more than 50% of their seasonal rainfall. By the end of June, Ahmedabad had received 31% of its rainfall, followed by 30% in July — totalling around 61% of the season’s expected rainfall.
