The Gujarat government has approved a new service charge for birth and death registrations by the municipal health committees in the state. Until now, these registrations were done in ₹2, but under the revised system, citizens will now have to pay fees of ₹20.

According to the new rule, birth and death registrations made within 21 days will remain free. However, a service charge will be applicable for registrations beyond this period.

Registrations between 21 and 30 days will now cost ₹20, while those between 30 days and one year will require a fee of ₹50. If the registration is done after a year, the applicant must pay ₹100.

Additionally, charges for searching birth and death records and issuing certificates have also been revised. Searching for records within the first year will now cost ₹20, and after the first year, it will remain the same. Issuing a certificate after a record search will now cost ₹50, while obtaining a non-record certificate will cost ₹20.
