After 70 days, using 4,800 cubic metres of concrete and 510 metric tonnes of steel, the substructure work of platforms 8 and 9 at Ahmedabad Railway Station in Kalupur has been completed.
With this, major trains that were diverted to other stations, will begin operating from Kalupur station.
The redevelopment project, being undertaken by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), aims to transform Ahmedabad station into a modern, world-class facility. Work has been underway for more than two years.
Under this project, a massive concourse, 503 metres long and 140 metres wide is being constructed in concrete to provide passengers with easy access across all nine platforms.
As part of this initiative, a 70-day mega block was implemented from July 5 on Platforms 8 and 9. During this period, 146 piles, 38 pile caps, and 76 pedestals were built.
Moreover, using 4,800 cubic metres of concrete and 510 metric tonnes of steel, the substructure for both platforms was completed, along with four elevator pits and four escalator pits.
