How far would you go for your love? A Kashmiri man travelled thousands of kilometres to Pakistan for a woman he was attracted to on social media.

Imtiaz Sheikh, 44, reached Khavda in Kutch and approached the local police and asked, “Where can I get a visa to go to Pakistan?”

The police were taken aback by his request. After thorough questioning by the police and border security agencies, it was revealed that Sheikh had left home without informing anyone, driven by his one-sided love.

The police found no incriminating items on him and decided to guide him back to Kashmir.

Sheikh, who holds a Master’s degree, had travelled from Kashmir, reaching Khavda with the help of Google Maps, after a long journey through Ahmedabad and Bhuj.

His inquiry about the visa raised an alarm among the local police, who then conducted a detailed inquiry.

His younger brother, Mustaq Ahmed, informed the police that Sheikh had fallen for a girl named Dr Ailia Shoaib he met on Instagram and left home without informing anyone.

Sheikh is single and has two brothers and four sisters, all of whom are married. According to his family, his mental health had deteriorated due to his obsession with the girl.

Upon questioning, he expressed his longing to meet his beloved, saying,

“I want to go to Pakistan to meet my beloved. I need a visa.”

The police conducted a background check and communicated with his family in Kashmir before ensuring he returned home safely.
