Rash driving by pickup truck kills scooterist, injures two in Sarkhej

A 29-year-old man died and two others sustained minor injuries after a speeding Bolero pickup collided with two two-wheelers near Modern School in Sarkhej on Wednesday morning.
According to senior police officials of 'M' Division Traffic Police Station, the incident took place around 11.15 am when the deceased, Rahul Khodabhai Sohelia, a resident of Parikshitnagar in Behrampura, was riding his Activa from Vishala Circle towards Juhapura Char Rasta.
As he approached the stretch in front of Modern School, a Bolero pickup truck allegedly driven at excessive speed struck two vehicles, Sohelia’s and another scooter (Access), resulting in a severe impact.
Sohelia sustained grievous injuries to the head and body and was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital along with the two occupants of the Access scooter, who sustained minor injuries. Sohelia was declared dead at the hospital, while the other two were administered first aid and discharged.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident and are in the process of identifying the driver of the Bolero, who is likely to face charges of rash and negligent driving under relevant sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act.
