Rare non-venomous buff-striped Keelback rescued from pol in Dariapur

Residents of Ahmedabad’s old city were left surprised after a buff-striped Keelback, locally known as a ‘Dhareedar Paniya Saap’, was spotted inside a pol in the Dariapur area, with locals claiming that such a snake had not been seen in the locality for years.
The incident was reported from Valmiki Vas in Dariapur on Thursday morning when a woman had gone to wash clothes and suddenly noticed the snake nearby. The sighting triggered panic in the area, leading to a crowd gathering at the spot.
Upon being informed, wildlife rescuer rushed to the location and safely rescued the snake, which was estimated to be around one-and-a-half feet long.

Locals gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the reptile, as many claimed they had not seen such a species in the pol area in several years.
After the rescue, the snake was released safely into its natural habitat.
