Rare bilateral choanal atresia treated successfully, newborn breathes normally after surgery at Ahmedabad Civil

A newborn girl from Kutch, born with the rare and potentially fatal congenital condition Bilateral Choanal Atresia, has been given a new lease of life following a successful surgery at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
The baby was born with complete blockage of both nasal passages, preventing normal breathing. In a meticulously planned procedure, doctors performed a septectomy using advanced technology to remove the obstruction and create a clear breathing pathway.
Post-surgery, the infant is reported to be completely healthy and is now breathing naturally through her nose without any medical support.
The complex surgery was carried out through coordinated multi-disciplinary teamwork involving skilled ENT surgeons, anaesthetists, paediatricians, and support staff at the government facility.
Gujarat Minister of State Praful Pansheriya lauded the efforts, stating that civil hospitals of the state government have become a true ray of hope for the poor and needy families.
