Rajya Sabha elections announced for Gujarat, 10 other states, voting on June 18

The Election Commission of India has announced biennial elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states, including Gujarat, where four members are set to retire in June 2026. Polling for the elections will be held on June 18 from 9 am to 4 pm, while counting of votes will take place the same evening.
As per the official schedule, notifications for the elections will be issued on June 1, while June 8 has been fixed as the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out on June 9 and candidates can withdraw nominations till June 11.
In Gujarat, the Rajya Sabha members completing their term on June 21, 2026 are Rambhai Harjibhai Mokariya, Amin Narhari Hirabhai, Gohil Shaktisinhji Harichandrasinhji and Ramila Becharbhai Bara.
The elections will also be held for seats falling vacant in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Mizoram. Senior leaders including Digvijaya Singh, Rajendra Gehlot and Mallikarjun Kharge are among the Rajya Sabha members retiring this term.
