Rajkot sizzles at 46.2 degree celcius breaks 133 year record Saurashtra under orange alert

As Rajkot witnessed record-breaking heat at 46.2°C, an orange alert was issued in Saurashtra-Kutch region by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

Temperatures in Rajkot rose to 46.2°C on Monday, breaking a 133-year record. Ahmedabad also experienced immense heat at 44°C.

With such temperatures, Rajkot is the hottest city in Gujarat. 

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad saw the highest temperature in April in the last 10 years. 

Forecast for the week

“Severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in Rajkot, Surendranagar, Morbi, Botad, and Kutch across Wednesday and Thursday,” said the IMD.

IMD predicted temperatures in the range of 40°C-44°C from Tuesday to Thursday.
