Updated: May 3rd, 2024
Rajkot range inspector general of police (IG) Ashok Kumar issued a notice to the concerned supervising official of VVIP security arrangements at Jamnagar for the public meeting of PM Modi held on May 1.
The responsibility of supervising prime minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Jamnagar was handed over to Surat deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Rajdeep Nakum.
According to the notification issued to Nakum on May 1, the arrangements were made at Jamnagar Airport via Khodiyar Mataji Temple Road, and the supervision involved negligence during the rehearsals.
Rajkot IG Kumar listed the following negligence in the rehearsals in VVIP arrangements:
-Proper barricading was not done at the usual public points.
-Deep points were not installed properly.
-The entire police staff was outside the barricade. However, as per the rule, 70% of the staff should be inside the barricade and 30% should be outside the barricade.
-Even though ‘Sir Peter Scott National Park’ crossed the route of the PM’s convoy, no checking was done for suspicious items or suspicious persons in this National park, and no pointers were given.
-A mobile folding barricade should be kept near the slum area near the Air Force Station to control traffic. However the supervising officer did not attend to this matter.
