The Gujarat High Court today took the suo moto cognizance of the Rajkot game zone fire that took over 35 lives, calling it a man-made disaster. The court also made some serious observations about the gaming zones across the state.

A special bench of Justices Biren Vaishnav and Deven Desai conducted a hearing in the Gujarat High Court today, terming the incident as a ‘man-made disaster’. 

The High Court also directed Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, and other Municipal Corporations and the state government to disclose the game zone rules and fire-safety compliance at such zones in a day.

The Gujarat High Court had also termed game zones on Sindhu Bhavan Road, SP Ring Road, and SG Highway in Ahmedabad city as dangerous.  

CM Bhupendra Patel visits injured

Earlier this morning, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi reached the scene in Rajkot. After that, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the TRP Game Zone accident site of Rajkot.

He acquired the details of the rescue operations including the reasons behind the incident. After that, the chief minister visited the injured in the fire at the AIIMS in Rajkot and met with doctors and officials.

DNA samples sent to Gandhinagar

The dead bodies recovered from the scene were burnt to an extent that they cannot be identified. Therefore, the DNA samples of the parents and siblings were taken to match with the deceased.

DNA was sent to Gandhinagar via air ambulance at 4.30 in the morning, and the reports are expected to come after 48 hours. 

Two of the dead bodies remain unclaimed, reports suggested.
