Rajasthan man arrested with 1,800 bottles of liquor in Ahmedabad, goods worth ₹7.22 lakhs seized

The Airport police in Ahmedabad have arrested a 21-year-old man from Rajasthan after recovering more than 1,800 bottles of foreign liquor and beer from an SUV in the Hansol area.
The police received a tip-off about a vehicle loaded with liquor was parked on a service road behind a petrol pump in Hansol. Acting on the information, a police team reached the spot and found the SUV parked in a dark and isolated area. The man sitting inside the vehicle was detained for questioning.
The accused has been identified as Dungraram Harkharam Jani, a resident of Lilsar village in Barmer district of Rajasthan.
During a search of the SUV, police found a total of 1,872 bottles of foreign liquor and beer hidden in the vehicle. The liquor was recovered from the back seat and deck area of the SUV.
Police also seized the SUV and a mobile phone from the accused. The total value of the seized liquor, vehicle and other items is estimated at ₹7.22 lakh.
Officials said a further investigation is underway to find out where the liquor was brought from, how it was transported into Gujarat, and who was supposed to receive the consignment in Ahmedabad. Police are also trying to determine whether other people were involved in the smuggling operation.
