Rain clouds hover over Gujarat on first day of Navratri festivities

Uncertainty has gripped Navratri organisers and revellers in Gujarat as rains threaten to disrupt the celebrations. The weather department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday, particularly in Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
Light to moderate rain is also expected in Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara and Chhota Udepur.
While Sunday saw showers in 50 talukas, Navsari recorded the highest rainfall with 1.5 inches in Hansot and 1 inch in Chikhli. Other places like Jafrabad in Amreli, Petlad in Anand, Valod in Tapi and Mangrol in Surat received between 0.5 to 1 inch of rainfall.
After Monday, the forecast indicates no rain activity for the next five days, offering relief to festival organisers and participants.
