Protest over Christmas display at Palladium Mall in Ahmedabad

Tension prevailed briefly at Palladium Mall in Ahmedabad on Saturday after members of the Bhagwa Sena staged a protest against Christmas-related decorations installed at the mall ahead of December 31 celebrations.
According to police, the protestors objected to a Christmas tree that had been set up inside the mall and demanded its removal, claiming it hurt religious sentiments. During the protest, the Christmas tree was taken down by the mall management to prevent the situation from escalating.
Police personnel were deployed at the spot and several Bhagwa Sena activists were detained for attempting to disrupt public order. The detainees were later taken to Vastrapur Police Station for questioning.
Vastrapur Police Inspector L L Chavda said, "As we got to know of the incident, a team was rushed to the spot and we have detained three people in the matter. Regading the entire incident, a case is yet to be registered, we are working on it."
