Prohibition raid in Ramol IMFL worth over rs 48 lakh seized one arrested

In a crackdown under the Gujarat Prohibition Act, a team from the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) conducted a raid near Shree Keshar Company on Ramol-Vanch Road in Ahmedabad city on Tuesday, seizing Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at over ₹48 lakh. The total seizure, including liquor, a vehicle, and other materials, is valued at ₹83.34 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, the officials intercepted a truck transporting a large consignment of liquor in violation of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, 1949. The raid was led by Police Inspector AV Patel of the SMC, with assistance from the Ramol Police Station.

Seized items include–

IMFL Bottles/tins: 19,815 units worth ₹48.09lakh 

Truck: 1 unit worth ₹35.00lakh 

Mobile phones:2 units worth ₹10,000

Compress bags: 270 bags worth ₹13,500

Cash: ₹1,250

Rope & tarpaulin: 1 each, worth ₹400

The vehicle was carrying the liquor concealed under compressed fodder bags in an attempt to evade detection. The truck was registered under number of Haryana. 

The driver of the truck, identified as Jaykishan Magnaram Jat, a resident  of Jalore district, Rajasthan, was taken into custody and handed over to Ramol Police Station.

Five persons are currently absconding in connection with the case:

1. Sanjaysinh Vijendrasinh – alleged sender of the liquor

2. An unidentified associate of Sanjaysinh, who reportedly dispatched the driver from Ludhiana

3. Suresh Bisnoi (resident of Rajasthan)

4. The owner of the truck

5. The intended recipient of the consignment in Ramol, Ahmedabad

The case has been registered under various sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the absconding accused. Investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and determine if the operation is linked to a wider inter-state liquor smuggling racket.
