In a video doing the rounds on social media, a woman who was riding a pillion on a bike can be seen crushed to death after a bus driver rammed his vehicle over the victim.
A 22-year-old woman, Hiral Jadhav, a native of Banaskantha, came to Ahmedabad to meet her fiancé, Hiren Parmar (24), a resident of Shahpur.
Bride-to-be crushed to death
Their wedding was scheduled for Feb 2024. The duo went shopping and were on their way to Bopal. Parmar, who was driving the bike, slowed and stopped the vehicle at the red light.
In seconds, a private luxury bus driver hit Parmar’s bike from behind, and both Jadhav and Parmar fell. Unfortunately, Parmar, who was riding a pillion with her fiancé, was crushed under the wheels of the bus, causing her death on the spot.
The bus driver immediately got off the bus and fled the scene, as per the footage. As per reports, bus driver Gambhirsinh Sisodia was later arrested on charges of causing death by negligent driving.
Despite the Gujarat High Court’s direction to prohibit private buses within city limits during the day, operators continued to carry out their business.
A few days ago, a bench comprising chief justice Sunita Agarwal and justice Aniruddha Mayee held that luxury buses caused many grave accidents, risking various lives.
