Primary school teachers in Gujarat don't know the name of state's CM
IAS officer visited government schools in Chhotaudepur
Even the teachers were not able to answer correctly
IAS Dhaval Patel, the commissioner of geology and mining in Gandhinagar, visited primary schools in the Chhotaudepur district during the entrance festival (praveshotsav) and reported the bad condition of the education system there.
He revealed ‘pitiful’ conditions of education in primary schools in a letter to the education secretary, Vinod Rao.
Even teachers don’t have general knowledge
In a recent development, not only the students, but even the teachers reportedly lack general knowledge at primary schools in Chhotaudepur. When asked the name of Gujarat’s chief minister, the teachers incorrectly replied ‘Narendra Modi’ instead of ‘Bhupendra Patel’.
Action was taken after the letter
After Patel's letter, Dr Kuber Dindor, minister for tribal development primary, secondary, and adult education, sought a report from the education department. The minister assured to take quick action regarding all the discrepancies in the schools in the border areas, involving teachers and parents in the matter.
