Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has awarded ₹10 crore to contractors for resurfacing roads across the city, but potholes in areas like Godrej Garden City and Nikol Road remain unattended, if we consider complaints of residents in these areas.

Recently, enraged residents of Nikol raised slogans against municipal officials who visited the area to review the situation.

Residents of Ahmedabad collectively pay approximately ₹1,700 crore in property tax to the municipal corporation each year. Once the monsoon ends, officials and ruling party members often make bold claims about repairing potholes on a war footing.

At Godrej Garden City, potholes are found right outside Uma Bhavani Society, near the residence of BJP Councillor Bharat Patel in Chandlodiya ward.

In the Asarwa area, potholes galore in front of the public outreach office of the BJP MLA, near the Civil Hospital doctors’ quarters. The road from Vandematram to Uma Sharanam flats in Chandlodiya is also badly damaged. In Ranip, the road outside the sub-zonal office is totally broken. The entire stretch of road near Gayatri Vidyalaya is crying for attention.

Nikol ward roads in the worst condition

Among all areas, the roads in Nikol ward are in the worst shape. Key roads like Gopal Chowk, Uma Vidyalaya Road, Bahuchar Chowk, Nikolgam Road, and the area near Pancham Mall are riddled with potholes.

Potholes are also found near the four-way intersection outside the BRTS road at Viratnagar crossroads, right in front of the East Zone office. In Vastral village, around the metro station, and along the service roads of the Ring Road, several potholes are yet to be filled.
