The government is splurging public tax money in the name of soil conservation to celebrate Independence Day . This August 15, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will hoist the Tricolour in Porbandar.

For this programme, a whopping ₹2 crore has been spent just to clean the ground and remove the soil in Porbandar. MLA Jignesh Mevani has strongly criticised the government on this issue in a tweet.

“Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is going to organise a programme to celebrate August 15 in Porbandar,” Mevani wrote.

“According to the information received, the Porbandar Collectorate, which is mired in corruption, is planning to blow up ₹2 crore on the ground where the programme is to be held without a tender on the pretext of soil conservation. @CMOGuj Do you know this?” he asked.

Preparations are in full swing for the August 15 celebration in Porbandar. This time, the chief minister will be present at the flag hoisting programme. Not only is the venue being cleaned, but the entire ground is being levelled and cleared.

Mevani has alleged that the ground cleaning work was assigned without a tender process.

It is worth mentioning that during the Lok Sabha elections as well, the Porbandar Collector was embroiled in controversy over the reckless spending of election funds.
