Porbandar man on London with forged passport nabbed at Ahmedabad airport
A man from Porbandar, Gujarat was arrested at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) for using forged documents to procure a passport and UK visa.
On the morning of October 5, 2024, the immigration department was processing passengers for a flight from Ahmedabad to London. When the passport of a man named Vijay Changi was examined, doubts arose over his father and mother’s names.
The passport also showed an address in Valsad. On suspicion, the authorities asked Changi for his parents’ photograph and proof which he failed to provide. His birth certificate was from Bopal.
During intense questioning by the authorities, Changi broke down and confessed that his real name was Vijay Khunti, his father’s name was Raj ji Khunti, and his mother’s name was Deviben Khunti. They are residents of Bakharla in Porbandar.
A complaint was registered and an investigation initiated by the police. Further investigation revealed that to send his son to London, Raj ji Khunti forged documents, created a birth certificate showing an address in Bopal Sun City. Moreover, with the help of an agent, he created a forged passport with a Valsad address for his son. The society shown in the passport did not exist. Acomplaint was registered at the Airport police station against the father and son for committing fraud.
