Police raid birthday party in Sanand resort: 39 guests caught drunk, liquor seized

Ahmedabad Rural Police late on Sunday night conducted a raid at a high-profile birthday party held at the Glade One Golf Club and Resort in Sanand, following a tip-off about the presence of alcohol and around 70 to 80 attendees.
According to officials, the raid was jointly carried out by teams from Sanand, , Changodar and Bopal police stations, along with two independent witnesses. The birthday celebration was reportedly organised by one Pratik Sanghi, a resident of Ahmedabad.
During the raid, police conducted breath analyser tests on several male and female guests present at the venue. Preliminary checks revealed that 13 men and 26 women were found to be in a suspected state of intoxication. All 39 individuals were subjected to further medical examination, and their blood samples were collected for laboratory analysis.
Police officials also recovered five sealed bottles of liquor from the premises, which were seized as evidence.

(2) Partially consumed glass/plastic liquor bottles – 8 units
(3) Empty liquor bottles of various brands – 20 units
(4) Glasses used for drinking liquor – 52 units
(5) Plastic hookah pipes – 7 units
(6) Cigarette packets – 30 units
(7) Mobile phone – 1 unit
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, and further legal action is underway.
The raid comes even as the city police and excise department have stepped up enforcement of prohibition laws, especially at upscale venues and farmhouses in the rural belts around Ahmedabad.
