Police lies exposed in Vadodara? Youth thrashed for riding bike without number plate caught on CCTV

A shocking incident which shows the high-handedness of the traffic police has come to light in Vadodara. The traffic cops allegedly committed inhuman atrocities on a youth riding a bike without a number plate and a modified silencer. What's surprising is the police refuting charges of beating up the youth, but the CCTV footage released by them exposes their lies.

Three press conferences, but fails to hide the truth

The Vadodara Police held three separate press conferences in a single day, in which two ACPs and a DCP addressed the matter. The police claimed that only force was used to restrain the young man, but the CCTV and body-worn camera footage released by the police themselves tells a different story.

Allegations of inhuman atrocities

The dispute took place when Kaushal Jat, a 30-year-old youth from Manjalpur, was passing by Dandiya Bazaar on his bullet. According to the youth's allegation, the police made him sit in their van and thrashed him.

He was taken to Sayajiganj Traffic Police Station and beaten black and blue by the ACP and other constables, Jat alleged. He was forced onto the ground, while they climbed on his chest and inflicted injury on his private part.

The youth is currently undergoing treatment at Sayaji Hospital and the marks of beating are visible on his body.

Police's defence: 'The youth had grabbed the cop's collar'

On the other hand, Traffic ACP D M Vyas said that the youth was violating traffic rules and during the action, he had grabbed the policeman's collar. According to the police, the youth had become aggressive, so the police "may have used the baton" to control him. The police on its part have registered a case of obstruction of duty against the youth at the Raopura Police Station.

Questions that beg answers

The role of the police in this entire matter is now under suspicion:

1. If the crime took place within the limits of the Raopura Police Station, then why did the traffic police forcibly take the youth to their office?

2. The police are clearly seen beating him in the CCTV, then why did the higher officials lie in the press conference?

3. Is it reasonable to torture a citizen so much for violating a simple traffic rule?
