The accused, identified as Bharat, had been arrested by the Vadaj police late on Thursday night in connection with a POCSO case. According to police officials, he was taken into custody around 11.30 pm and later escorted for a medical examination as part of the mandatory procedure following arrest.
Police said that after the medical examination, the accused was being brought back to the police station around 5 am when he allegedly took advantage of the situation and fled.
