PMJAY irregularities unearthed at Jamnagar’s JCC Heart Institute, hospital removed from scheme

One more fraud uncovered under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-MA (PMJAY-MA) scheme at Jamnagar’s JCC Heart Institute, where investigators found irregularities in cardiac procedures and patient documentation.
The Gujarat Health Department’s team found that the hospital had tampered with laboratory and ECG reports in multiple cases to falsely indicate that patients required cardiac treatment. Further investigations revealed that several unnecessary cardiac procedures were conducted under the scheme to claim insurance benefits.
A comprehensive audit of 262 cases performed at the hospital exposed discrepancies in 53 procedures, confirming large-scale malpractice. Based on these findings, the government imposed a penalty of over ₹6 lakh and suspended Dr Parshva Vhora (G-28538) for his role in the violations.
Taking a stern view of the misconduct, the Health Department removed JCC Heart Institute from the PMJAY-MA panel, barring it from carrying out any further treatment under the state and central health insurance schemes.
Health Minister Prafull Pansheriya said the incident reflects a serious breach of ethics and misuse of a welfare scheme meant for the poor. He added that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government has intensified audits to detect and curb corruption in the healthcare sector.
