Projects worth crores in Mehsana and Kevadia await prime minister's arrival

Prime minister Narendra Modi landed this morning at Ahmedabad airport for a two-day visit to Gujarat.

PM Modi offered prayers at Ambaji Temple today at around 10:30 a.m. 


On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on Oct 31, at around 8 a.m., the prime minister will visit the Statue of Unity in Kevadia to participate in National Unity Day celebrations.

Projects inaugurated by PM

Today, PM Modi inaugurated various projects valued at ₹5,950 cr in Gujarat.

The projects span multiple sectors, including Indian Railways, Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (GRIDE), water resources department, water supply department, roads and buildings department, and urban development department.

These projects will benefit districts like Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mahisagar, Gandhinagar, and Patan in Gujarat.

He also inaugurated 16 projects in Dabhoda village. Eight of these projects were officially inaugurated, while the remaining eight are at various stages of development.

Railway projects

Indian Railways and the Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (GRIDE) have played pivotal roles in these projects.

The railway projects unveiled included the Western dedicated freight corridor (WDFC) section from New Bhandu to New Sanand in Mehsana, spanning 77 km, and a 24 km long connecting line, which together comprise a second electrified double line.

Additionally, Modi also inaugurated the expansion of the 182 km railway line from Viramgam to Samkhiali, effectively converting it into a double track. This railway network will traverse districts such as Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi, and Rajkot.

Moreover, the 29.65 km railway project between Katosan-Bechraji in Mehsana, overseen by the GRIDE, was also inaugurated. These projects collectively represent a value of ₹5,130 cr.

Water-related projects

The water resources department also featured prominently, with projects including the recharge of various lakes in the delta area of Vijapur and Mansa talukas.

Also, the construction of the Valasana barrage on the Sabarmati river in Mehsana was initiated. In Mahisagar district, the Panam Reservoir-based Lift Irrigation Project is set to enhance irrigation capabilities by connecting various lakes in the Santrampur taluka. These projects, valued at ₹270 crore, hold significant promise for the region’s agricultural development.

Event at Ekta Nagar

On Oct 31, prime minister will witness the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade, which will comprise marching contingents from the BSF and various state police. Special attractions include a daredevil show by all-women CRPF Bikers, a women pipe band of BSF, a choreographed programme by Gujarat women police, a special NCC show, a school band display, a fly-by by the Indian Air Force, and a showcasing of the economic viability of vibrant villages, among others.

Thereafter, at around 11:15 a.m., he will address the officer trainees of the 98th common foundation course in Aarambh 5.0.

Projects in Kevadia

In Kevadia, the prime minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth ₹160 cr. The projects that will be inaugurated include the Heritage Train from Ekta Nagar to Ahmedabad; a project for Narmada Aarti Live; Kamalam Park; a walkway within the Statue of Unity; 30 new e-buses, 210 e-bicycles, and multiple golf carts; the city gas distribution network at Ekta Nagar; and ‘Sahkar Bhawan’ of Gujarat State Cooperative Bank.

Later, he will lay the foundation stone of the sub-district hospital with a trauma centre and a solar panel at Kevadia.
