No 'opposition' for PM Modi in Ahmedabad: Congress leaders under house arrest

To avoid any possible protests from the Opposition, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch and local police put Congress leaders living in Nikol, Naroda, and nearby areas under 'house arrest', where Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address was scheduled for Monday.
Ahmedabad City Congress president Sonal Patel, party’s vice president Amit Nayak, and other leaders were taken to Navrangpura Police Station.
Moreover, spokesperson Hemang Raval, Parthivraj Kathvadiya, and other leaders were placed under house arrest until PM Modi's address was over.
Several opposition leaders complained of police personnel misbehaving with them, and seizing their mobile phones.
NSUI leaders detained
During the road show, police detained National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) leaders protesting the ruling party's 'vote chori' of the ruling party.
“Today, ahead of Narendra Modi’s arrival in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat NSUI office-bearers were dragged out of their own homes by the police and were kept under house arrest! Is the voice of the youth really so dangerous? Are truth-speaking students considered the biggest enemies? Is this what a ‘great democracy’ looks like, where opponents are locked inside their own homes? Dictators have always feared the youth – because it is the roar of the youth that can shake their throne,” said an NSUI leader.
