Pioneering chemist Sukh Dev passes away at 101

Organic chemistry scholar and Padma Bhushan scientist Prof Sukh Dev, who settled in Bhavnagar for years, passed away on October 16 at the age of 101.
Prof Sukh Dev has written more than 10 books and has more than 290 research papers published in his name. There are also 55 patterns in registered in his name.
As many as 92 students have pursued and attained their PhD under him.
Prof Sukh Dev was honoured with Padma Bhushan Award by the government of India, along with Bhatnagar Award, Sudbroh Medal, PC Roy Award, and Ernest Gunther Award of American Chemical Society.
With his constant contributions to the field, he was known as the ‘Bhisma Pitamaha’ of organic chemistry.
