Here's how pensioners in Gujarat can avail of life certificates at home

This has come as a big relief for senior citizens in Gujarat. Pensioners in the state will get a free door-step verification of life certificate, eliminating the need for a bank visit.
To ease the challenges faced by elderly pensioners in verifying their life certificates, the Gujarat government has introduced a simplified doorstep service.
Until now, pensioners were required to visit designated offices or banks to complete the verification process—a task often difficult for the elderly and physically disabled.
To address this issue, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Postal Department. Under this agreement, pensioners can now avail of free life certificate verification services right at their doorstep.
The service will be offered by India Post and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) officials who will visit pensioners’ homes to complete biometric verification and issue a Digital Life Certificate.
A total of 5 lakh pensioners in the state will be able to avail of this optional service.
How to avail of this service?
- To avail of DLC service, a customer can contact the nearest post office or place a request for a doorstep visit by the postman/Grameen Dak Sevak. Department of Posts has also enabled the scheduling of doorstep requests through the Post Info app or the website to book doorstep requests through India Post.
- Issuance of DLC is a completely paperless, seamless and hassle-free process, and the certificate is generated instantly.
- On successful completion, a Pramaan ID is generated that is shared with the pensioner by NIC directly.
- Once the Pramaan ID is generated, pensioners may download the DLC through the link.
- For every successful generation of DLC, a nominal fee of ₹70 (inclusive of GST/ CESS) will be charged.
- There will be no doorstep charges levied for IPPB or non-IPPB customers for the issuance of DLC.
