A Vande Mataram 112 Jan Rakshak PCR van allegedly crashed into three vehicles on Saturday, prompting a formal complaint and raising questions over the conduct of the personnel involved. The A Division Traffic Police have arrested the driver of the PCR van after six bottles of cough syrup were recovered from inside the vehicle.

According to officials, the incident came to light after the driver of an i10 car filed a complaint stating that the PCR van struck his vehicle and two others on the road. Acting on the complaint, the A Division Traffic Police registered a case and began an inquiry.

Preliminary findings revealed that the PCR van involved in the collision belongs to Sabarmati Police Station. The driver, identified as Yash Parmar, was taken into custody soon after.

Police are examining whether the cough syrup bottles recovered from the van suggest possible substance misuse, which may have contributed to the crash.

“We have arrested the driver and initiated detailed investigation into how the PCR van ended up colliding with multiple vehicles. All aspects, including the recovery of cough syrup, are being verified,” said N.A. Desai, Police Inspector, A Division Traffic Police Station.

Further inquiry is under way to determine whether any other personnel were present in the van at the time of the incident and whether departmental action is warranted.
